Is Kangen water® any better for you than the ionized alkaline water made by other machines? The short answer is; No. There’s no difference between Kangen Water and ionized alkaline water. In fact, Kangen water may be of lesser quality: The Kangen machine doesn’t filter out some harmful elements in water such as heavy metals, so Kangen water may actually contain toxins that alkaline water made by better machines won’t. You should also understand that there’s a lot of hype to cut through when comparing Kangen water to alkaline water.
Kangen Water® – Why the Hype?
The term Kangen water® is meaningless to scientists, it’s a Japanese word that means: “return to origin” it comes from Japanese mythology. Many of the claims made about Kangen water® contradict the known laws of chemistry, physics, and biology, which is why critics say Kangen Water is based on pseudoscience. For example: The claim that Kangen water® is microclustered is nonsense, there’s no such thing as microclustering. Kangen water machines make alkaline water, which is no different than the alkaline water made by any other machine.
Is Kangen water® any better than alkaline water?
No, and as a matter of fact, it may not be as clean as the alkaline water produced by other machines. Life water ionizers make water that is a lot cleaner than Kangen® water. Kangen water may contain heavy metals and salt, because of the way it’s filtered.
The Kangen water machine has only a single internal filter. That filter can’t filter out metallic toxins such as mercury and lead, nor can it filter salt in your water. If you have a home with older plumbing you should avoid the Kangen machine because it won’t protect you from the lead that may be in your pipes.
Life water ionizers come with custom filtration configured to get the toxins in your water – including heavy metals and salt. Plus, the internal filters used in a Life Ionizer contain KDF-55, which filters heavy metals. If there is lead in your water, a Life Ionizer will protect you from it.
How to be sure your alkaline water is safe
To avoid the risk of toxic impurities that may be present in Kangen water®, make sure your home water ionizer has proper filtration. High quality water ionizers have multiple internal filters that can handle metallic toxins.
If you are concerned about your tap water quality, your best bet is to use custom filtration with your water ionizer. Life Ionizers has done extensive research on tap water quality, and found that water quality varies widely from city to city. It is best to have custom filtration for your ionizer that is designed specifically to get the toxins that are in your local water supply.
Alkaline Water is Science, Kangen Water® isn’t
There are over 40 studies on the health benefits of drinking alkaline water – and there are none on Kangen water. This is because Kangen a marketing term used by Enagic to justify the high price (close to $4,000) of their machines. You can get a Life water ionizer that makes alkaline water that is both cleaner and healthier than Kangen water® for about half the price.
How does Life Ionizers® compare to Enagic®?
Life Ionizers® can make alkaline drinking water with more acid-fighting alkalinity, and more antioxidant potential than the Kangen machine because Life Ionizers are more powerful than the Kangen machine. Life Ionizers gives you a free custom filtration system that targets the toxins found in your local water supply to ensure your alkaline water is pure:
Drinking Water Comparison: Enagic® vs. Life
Life Ionizers® M9 |
Enagic® * | |
pH | 11.3 | 9.5 |
-ORP | -813 | -550 mV |
Filters | 3 total: 2 internal, 1 pre-filter | 1 internal |
* Without Enagic’s additive chemicals. Life water ionizers do not use chemicals
You may have seen higher pH and –ORP levels advertised for the Enagic® machine, but read the fine print! Enagic® ionizers can only reach high pH and –ORP levels with the use of an additive chemical called glycerophosphoric acid calcium. If you don’t want to add chemicals to your water, Enagic ionizers top out at 9.5 pH.
