Drinking water from Kangen water® machines can cause nausea if you’re not careful. When you first start drinking the water, you must start at level 1 and work your way up. Alkaline ionized water (another name for kangen water®) may cause mild flu-like symptoms in first time drinkers. You may also become nauseous if your water is contaminated by damaged kangen® machine plates.
How the Kangen water® machine’s plates get damaged
The Enagic® SD-501® can make titanium-contaminated water when its plates become damaged by improper use of the acid supplement used to clean the machine. The acid supplement can strip the platinum coating off of the plate, exposing the titanium underneath.
For that reason, you may want to avoid machines like the Enagic® SD-501® that need additional chemicals for operation. There are better quality ionizers that cost less and don’t need dangerous chemicals that can destroy their plates.

What are the symptoms of kangen water® nausea?
When you first start drinking kangen water®, you may experience flu-like symptoms, and need to urinate frequently. Once you have become used to drinking the water, you should have no further symptoms. If you continue to experience nausea after the first week or two, talk to your doctor. You may need treatment or to need to modify your regime.
Ionized Alkaline Water vs. Kangen water®
What’s the difference between kangen water® and ionized alkaline water? There isn’t any difference. The term d “kangen” is Japanese; it means “return to origin”. But there’s really no difference between Kangen brand alkaline water and alkaline water made by any other machine. The word kangen® comes from Japanese mythology; it actually has nothing to do with healthy water!
