10 Ways to Raise Your pH Balance and Lose Weight
The problems of weight gain and pH imbalance are related. It’s common knowledge that you shouldn’t eat too many calories in a day, but did you know that diets loaded with calories are also acidic? It’s true! You can make smarter food choices to cut your calorie intake and boost your body’s pH balance at the same time!
You can also make a big improvement by changing the water you drink. Alkaline water from a water ionizer will raise your pH balance quickly when your body is in a condition called metabolic acidosis. A recent study found that drinking alkaline water quickly raised the pH balance of blood and urine of men whose bodies were in the state of metabolic acidosis. By choosing the right foods and alkaline water, you can reduce your chances of getting metabolic acidosis and reach a healthy weight!
What is Metabolic Acidosis?
Metabolic acidosis is a temporary condition that a normally healthy body compensates for all on its own. The problem is, as you age, your body’s ability to handle metabolic acidosis declines because your bicarbonate buffer becomes depleted, and your ability to discharge acidity through breath and kidneys also declines. If your body’s ability to compensate for metabolic acidosis is compromised, your body won’t be able to restore its pH balance on its own. That’s when changing your diet and your water really help.

How many calories do you really need?
Most people think the answer to that question is about 2,000 calories. For a normally active person, that’s true. But some people actually need more calories in their diet: For example, I ride my bicycle to work here at Life Ionizers. I use a phone application called Cycledroid to track my speed, distance, and calorie consumption, among other things. Cycledroid estimates that I burn 2,000 calories per day, just getting back and forth to work! This means that if I ate the recommended daily allowance in calories, I would burn it all up commuting to work, and have nothing left for the rest of the day! I currently eat about 4,000 calories per day, just to maintain my weight.
If you get less than 30 minutes of exercise per day, it’s likely that you would do fine on less than 2,000 calories per day. In fact, some doctor-supervised diets provide as little as 400 calories per day.
To find your ideal calorie consumption: Start at 2,000 calories per day, add more if you exercise frequently or as intensely as I do. If you don’t get much exercise, shoot for less than 2,000 calories per day. Cut down gradually instead of all at once, if you shock your body by drastically cutting down your calorie intake, it will respond by lowering your metabolism to save calories!
The importance of hydration
You’ve probably experience the 3 O’Clock crash: That afternoon tiredness that threatens to make you fall asleep at your desk. Many people reach for coffee or soda for a quick caffeine “pick me up” to fight off the fatigue.
Try this instead: Reach for a glass of alkaline water! Why it works: Your body uses a huge amount of water to digest your lunch. If you’re chronically dehydrated, and 3 out of 4 people are, the water used to digest your food will cause your body’s hydration level to drop. When that happens, your body will slow down to defend itself from dehydration. Drinking a glass of water 30 minutes to an hour after lunch is an effective way to stop the 3 O’Clock crash.
10 Habits to get into for healthy weight loss and pH balance
Be gentle on yourself, don’t try these all at once or it’s likely that you won’t stick to it. Keep in mind that these are general recommendations. There are exceptions, for example, I ignore #10 because my body can handle the extra strain, and I have a plan in place to manage the acidity that comes from it.
- Drink ionized alkaline mineral water throughout the day except at meals.
- Eat lots of greens, at least two servings per day but 4 – 6 are better
- Limit alcohol intake!
- Cut back on dairy, milk is acid-forming and really not that great for your bones
- Adjust your daily calorie intake based on the amount of exercise you get that day.
- Reduce or eliminate sugar and processed foods.
- Limit meat, chicken, fish servings to the size of your palm or a deck of cards.
- Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day
- Practice deep breathing exercises.
- Avoid over-exercising. Intense or extreme exercise can cause exercise-induced acidosis
Why ionized alkaline water is an important part of daily pH balance
Morning Your body’s pH balance, and hydration status will fluctuate throughout the day. When you first wake up, your body is ready to flush acidic wastes that accumulated while you slept. It does this with water. Two glasses of alkaline water when you wake up provides the hydration and the alkalinity you need to start the day off right.
Before meals, Your body needs extra water to digest your food, but you shouldn’t drink alkaline water, or really any water with meals. Your stomach needs to maintain an acidic pH to digest your food, so if you drink water with a meal, make it regular filtered water. Drink a glass of alkaline water about a half hour before your meal to give your stomach time to return to its normal level of acidity.
After meals Stop that 3 O’Clock crash before it starts by drinking a glass of alkaline water about a half hour to an hour after a meal. This gives your stomach time to digest your food.
Exercise Alkaline water is best for exercise because exercise induces metabolic acidosis! As you exercise, lactic acid builds up in your muscles. It’s what causes the burning sensation in your muscles. Two studies have shown that alkaline water buffers the lactic acid produced by exercise and rehydrates you better than plain water.
Before bed, This glass of alkaline water could save your life! Dehydration, when you sleep, can cause a heart attack or stroke. Drink a glass of water an hour before bed to give your body the hydration it needs to make it through the night.
Ionized Alkaline Water is an important part of healthy weight loss
Research shows that drinking ionized alkaline water can cause weight loss. In a study called The effect of daily consumption of 2 liters of electrolyzed water for 2 months on body composition and several physiological parameters in four obese subjects researchers found that people who started drinking alkaline water lost an average of 12 pounds over two months. They changed nothing else, just the water they drank and the pounds came off
What if you drink ionized alkaline water for longer than two months? A very satisfied Life Ionizer customer, Christine, has been drinking alkaline water for 4 years. She’s lost about 70 pounds in that time, and the weight has stayed off! Christine credits ionized alkaline water with putting her back in charge of her health. When Christine shared her success with us, she said: “I’m a Life customer, for life! I’m convinced that a healthy body needs healthy water.” It’s customers like Christine that make working for Life Ionizers so rewarding.
