If you want to alkalize your body, there are five things you must do: First, you must change your diet, choose alkaline foods instead of acidic. Second, drink alkaline water. Third, you have to improve your posture. Fourth, you need to reduce your stress level. Lastly, you need to exercise. All five of these steps contribute to alkalizing the body.
Why you must eat an alkaline diet to alkalize your body
The body maintains the blood pH in a narrow pH range of 7.35 – 7.45. When you eat acidic foods such as sugary snacks or soda, your body has to dig into its alkaline reserves to counteract that acidity. When you eat alkaline foods, you alkalize your body. It uses that alkalinity to counteract acid.
Take the first step towards an alkaline diet by avoiding sodas, sugary snacks and canned foods. Why should you avoid canned foods? Because Federal law requires them to have a pH of 4.6 or lower! As a general rule of thumb, choose healthy foods and eat your food raw whenever possible.

Why drink alkaline water?
Alkaline water provides the body with alkaline minerals, which can contribute to alkalizing the body. Essential minerals like calcium and magnesium alkalize the body are easier for the body to absorb from water than they are from food.
Mineral deficiencies play a significant role in high blood pressure, obesity, heart problems and many other health issues. Drinking mineral rich water like alkaline water has been shown to help correct mineral deficiencies in several studies.
Tip: Drink a minimum of 6 eight ounce glasses of alkaline water every day. Click here to learn how to hydrate the body with alkaline water.
Why you MUST improve your posture
Sit up straight when you read this. Now, take a deep breath. Notice how much air your lungs can pull in. Next, slouch a little; now try taking a deep breath. Notice how much harder it is.
Your lungs are the fastest and most efficient way for your body to rid itself of acid. When you maintain good posture, your lungs can work at peak efficiency to rid your body of acid. If you slouch, you lose lung capacity, and your body has a much harder time ridding itself of acid.
Tip: When you feel “out of breath” there is too much acid in your body for your lungs to handle!
For good posture: At all times, keep your shoulders back and your head up. When walking, keep your knees slightly bent. You will be amazed at how much better good posture makes you feel!
Why stress reduction matters
Stress has been shown to produce acidity in the body. When you reduce your stress level, you reduce body acidity. The fastest way to reduce stress is to take a deep breath. Take a few deep breaths right now, notice how you feel. Deep breathing has an instant effect on your stress level; it is the easiest way to reduce stress.
Remember: When you feel stressed, stop and take a few deep breaths.
How exercise helps alkalize the body
Exercise actually generates acids in the body, but it consumes more acids than it produces. Exercise converts stored acids into energy and waste acids which the body can expel. So exercise helps you get rid of stored acids in your body. Here’s how exercise helps
When you work out, you breathe deeper. That’s because your lungs are expelling acid! As the body converts fatty acids into energy, it generates other acidic wastes which are expelled in your urine and sweat. Every time you exercise, you end up with less acid in the body than you started with!
Remember to do these five things every day to alkaline your body:
- Eat alkaline foods, avoid acidic foods
- Drink alkaline water
- Sit (and stand) up straight! Maintain good posture!
- Take a few deep breaths, let the stress go
- Exercise; enjoy the energy and vitality that comes with good health!
