Potential Benefits of Acid Water for Eczema and Acne

For good health, your skin needs to maintain an acidic pH range of 4 – 6. Recent research (see first study in references below) on skin problems like eczema, acne, and other problems has revealed that pH is a factor in virtually every skin disorder. Acid water, with a pH of 2 – 2.7 in studies has shown significant promise in restoring the skin’s acidic balance (known as the acid mantle). This kind of acid water is made using a batch ionizer or a Life drinking water ionizer and adding the Life Acid Supplement natural powder. Acid water has proven antimicrobial properties that have been shown to be effective against bacterial infections of the skin.

Skin pH: Your body’s defense against infection

Acidic water is a gentle, no-sting means of reducing the pH of your skin

Most of the fluids inside your body have a slightly alkaline balance, blood pH is strictly regulated in a pH range of 7.35 – 7.45. But healthy skin has an acidic pH, which serves a barrier to invading microorganisms. When this pH barrier breaks down, infections such as acne are able to develop.

Acidifying the affected area has been shown to bring relief of symptoms associated with eczema. Studies show that people with eczema should avoid conventional soaps because they are alkaline.

Elevated pH levels are also seen in acne sufferers. The acne bacteria grow well in a pH range of 6 – 6.5. Often people with acne will respond by washing their skin more frequently, but this will aggravate the infection if they use alkaline soaps!

Ionized acidic water treatment has shown effective

The use of ionized acidic water has shown promise in bringing relief of skin symptoms. One study conducted on children with eczema showed that acid water produced significant improvement in about a week.

Acidic water has also been shown to be effective against acne bacteria. One study showed significant reductions in bacterial levels within 24 hours! The study also revealed that treatment with acidic water was well tolerated, and study participants rated their experience with acidic water treatment very highly.

How acid water for skin treatment is made

A batch water ionizer is the preferred means of making acidic water for antibacterial purposes. These machines use salt to make strongly ionized water one batch at a time. The water is made by adding a teaspoon of salt to the water, and then ionizing it for a half hour. The acid water produced will typically have a pH range of 2 – 3 – which is the ph range of the acid water used in all the studies cited in this article.

Acidic water from a drinking water ionizer can be used with the addition of Life Acid Supplement natural powder. Our all natural acid supplement will safely lower the pH of ionized acidic water to between 2 – 3.  So you get all the benefits of ionized water treatment in the pH range recommended by research.

How to use acidic water for skin treatment

There are three ways to deliver the acidic water to the affected area. You can soak the skin in it, wet a sterile cloth with it and apply to the affected area for a few minutes, or put the water in a spray bottle and spray the affected area. Spray bottle treatment is probably the most convenient, it received the highest patient-satisfaction rating in the acne study cited in this article.
