Bottled water is less regulated than tap water
If you think bottled water is cleaner or healthier than tap water, think again. A 2011 study from the Environmental Working Group (EWG) says filtered tap water is safer than bottled water. Many bottled water labels depict natural images which have nothing to do with the source of the water inside. The nutrition labels on the bottles fail to provide basic information about the source and purification of the water inside because the FDA doesn’t require it.
EWG evaluated 173 brands of bottled water for transparency, which is a measure of how well the brands disclose the source and purity of their water. More than half of the brands surveyed failed the transparency test, 18 percent of the products didn’t list the source of their water, and 32 percent didn’t give any details on water treatment methods or purity.
Absurd FDA Bottled Water Labeling Requirements
Amazingly, the Food and Drug Administration does not require bottled water companies to disclose anything on the label about their water beside nutritional content! Inquiring minds wonder why the FDA requires nutrition labeling on water, when more important information such as source and purity are not required.
According to The National Resources Defense Council, 25 percent or more of all bottled water is no safer than tap water. None of the brands tested received an A on EWG’s transparency test. To ensure your safety, the EWG recommends drinking filtered tap water until there are stronger federal standards in place for bottled water labeling. Tap water quality varies and frequently, and it’s often contaminated by chemicals and bacteria, but a good filtration system will keep you safe
“A Dolphin Whole Home Filtration system dramatically reduces toxins before they enter your home” says Rick H. Cabados, CEV for Life Ionizers. “The water in that bottle you’re drinking from could be harming you.”
Life Ionizers provides a free water quality analysis of their customer’s federally mandated municipal water report in order to see if what kind of water treatment is needed. The information is used to tailor a water treatment solution to the customer’s needs.
Water filtration systems, such as Life’s NSF-certified Dolphin Whole Home Filtration System, provide a proven barrier against harmful chemicals. The Dolphin as been tested and certified by the National Sanitation Foundation to effectively remove impurities such as:
- Heavy Metals such as Hexavalent Chromium 6
- Chlorine and all VOC’s
