You should not take medication with alkaline water unless directed to do so by your doctor. Alkaline water may cause medications to be absorbed too quickly!
Not for use with time-release medications
Time release medications are designed to be absorbed by the body over a period of time. Taking time-release medications with alkaline water may cause the medication to be absorbed too quickly. Time-release medication can be either prescription or non-prescription, so read the label carefully and if in doubt; take it with purified water.
Medication Tip: Other names for time release medication include; extended release, controlled release, and sustained release.
Prescription drugs: Ask your doctor
There are simply too many drugs today to list which ones are safe with alkaline water and which ones aren’t. You should ask your doctor if it is safe to take any medicine with alkaline water, and if in doubt, take it with purified water.
Water Tip: A home water ionizer can also produce purified water, which can be used to take any medication.
Alkaline water and supplements
Most supplements are fine, but you should ask a health professional that is familiar with the supplements you are taking before taking them. Alkaline water may speed the absorption of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
Alkaline water and electrolytes = Rocket fuel!
Electrolytes are used to improve body hydration, and alkaline water improves hydration. When mixed together, they become a potent sports beverage.
How to make the ultimate sports drink: To make this potent sports drink, simply mix alkaline water with a 10 pH from a home water ionizer and powdered electrolyte drink mix. The mixture will keep for days, but is best consumed fresh.
